Pre-Classic Meeting held
The annual Pre-Classic meeting was held on Thurs Oct. 4th at the outdoor kitchen (complete with outdoor bathrooms) of the Cuntz manor. Those in attendence enjoyed some nice weather, great food, and a lot of great stories. TD cooked up a perfect chicken and sausage gumbo, and followed it up with unbelievable bread pudding. The Captains announced their draft picks, handicaps were finalized, and the Thursday matches were selected. See details below. A special thanks to Cecilia for putting up with us.
There are a couple of changes for this year's trip:
- Senior Tees: Players whose age + assigned handicap is 75 or more are now eligible to tee off from the senior tees. If you play from the senior tees, your handicap will be lowered by two for that round. For example, Murph has an assigned handicap of 18. If he decides to play from the senior tees, then he will play that round with a handicap of 16. If you meet this requirement, you can choose to tee off from the senior tees for any or all rounds; however, you must make your choice for each round before the captains determine the matches for that round.
- Handicaps for 3/3/3: This year, strokes will be awarded in the 3/3/3 matches. The formula to determine how many strokes will be awarded was decided by a secret committee and is locked away in a hidden vault. You'll just have to take what you get.

The 2012 Fall Classic will once again feature the Modified Calcutta.
The total pot for the Calcutta is $200.

- Yourself
- Free pick (you can pick anyone in the field that you think might win the Championship, picks will be made prior to the first tee time on Thursday)
# of people picking winner | Champ's Share | Picker's Share |
---|---|---|
0 | $200.00 | - |
1 | $100.00 | $100.00 |
2 | $100.00 | $50.00 each |
3 | $100.00 | $33.33 each |
4 | $100.00 | $25.00 each |
Example #1:
Pat wins the Championship. No one picked him with their pick. The pot would be split based on zero people picking the winner:
- Pat (Champ's share) : $200.00
Example #2:
Pat wins the Championship. Mike and Perry picked Pat to win with their pick. Therefore the pot would be split based on two people picking the winner:
- Pat (Champ's share) : $100.00
- Mike (Picker's share) : $50.00
- Perry (Picker's share) : $50.00
Example #3:
Pat wins the Championship. Mike, Perry, and Pat picked Pat (you can pick yourself). Therefore the pot would be split based on three people picking the winner:
- Pat (Champ's share + Picker's share) : $100.00 + $33.33 = $133.33
- Mike (Picker's share) : $33.33
- Perry (Picker's share) : $33.33
